While this year has been all over the place, we have made it to the 1/2 way point. Today is day 183, and there are 183 days remaining.
There is so much out of our control in these weird times, yet there are things we can maneuver to our advantage. Think of a time you were successful, you achieved a goal, and / or easily completed a task perceived by others as difficult. What strengths did you lean on to reach success in those spaces? What systems did you have in place to ensure success? Who did you surround yourself with as a support system?  Even with uncertainty, let’s smash the next 183 days. You’ve got this. These days are anything but ordinary. We rarely l

These days are anything but ordinary.
We rarely leave the house.
We order grocery delivery and Clorox wipe everything down before bringing in the house.

We work from home, which instead of putting in 40 hours a week, it feels like we never clock out.

We find today is just Today. Week days are marked by if we receive a first grade morning message.
We are battling our our sense of loss, isolation, fear, while trying to help our kids navigate their feelings.
We are in a constant internal battle of what is enough and for how long. When does the benefit outweigh the risk. Not only the risk for us, but for the collective.
Yet, we push on. We cook together. We play together. We draw together. We work together. We get frustrated together. We cry together. We celebrate together. We live together. We celebrate joy together. .

I have a first grader and a toddler at home. Holy.

I have a first grader and a toddler at home. Holy. Buckets.
I have been trying to appreciate the time with them. I get to spend time playing peek-a-boo instead of driving to work, and talking about an animal documentary instead of driving home from work. I get to relax through breakfast instead of rushing out the door with a granola bar.
However. #RealMomLife here. I need a break. I need to have a little time to myself. I want to have one day I am not trying to convince my child she needs to know how many vertices a cube has, while pulling a toddler off my body. I want to clock out at 5 pm without being nervous I didn't get enough work done for work. I want to to go to bed at a descent time without craving alone time so much I stay up just to hear the silence.
I love my family and am for sure finding this current life is happening at a slower pace. I know we are lucky to be healthy, employed, and able to stay home. I'm thankful for what we have, but also find myself at the end of my rope.

I am tired, worried, uncertain, sad, disappointed.

I am tired, worried, uncertain, sad, disappointed... The last days and weeks have been exhausting. Not only because I have been ill, but because my mind cannot stop. I cannot stop thinking about all the "what ifs", the missed opportunities, the mourning for what we have lost.
I am thankful that our family is healthy, together, and employed. I am ever so grateful for our state government, teachers, and school district for being planful and supportive.

Yet, the unknown, the frustration of lives being put at risk. The supplies our medical community desperately need yet cannot get.
So. Many. Things.
With all that, I found a blog post from Jess Gendron. I want to share this excerpt with you in hopes it reminds us it is okay to not be okay. We are in this together. "This blog isn’t going to give you any tips. It’s not going to give you some quippy, hope-filled quote or a picture of a beach. It’s just going to tell you that I’m falling apart a little bit – and if me falling apart gives you permission to fall apart a little too, let it. Maybe it gives you permission to not be okay, too. If all of that makes you feel a little more “normal” and allows me to stand in grief, fear, or sadness with you – I will." @jgendronwilliams .
